I. Contest
1. Object of contest
We are inviting you to create a web application using Microsoft® Silverlight™ technology that helps raise social awareness of environmental damage, and inspires individual or group actions that reduce the harmful impact on climate change. To name a few examples, your application may:
- show an interesting animation illustrating current and potential damage to environment; may display in an original way slogans and appeals to save the environment
- help estimate the quantity of poisonous emissions (and money) a person saves by doing specific actions, like riding a bike rather than driving a car, adjusting your heating devices to a lower temperature, etc.
- educate how many years it takes to have a trashed material decompose completely
- explain what home, gardening, office activities may be undertaken to reduce contamination and carbon emissions
2. Contest categories
The contest will select winners in two separate categories: Judge's choice and SilverlightShow Community Choice. All eligible entries received will be immediately entered into each contest category and will be judged according to the category-specific judging criteria described in Section III below.

III. Contest judgement
Winners in each Contest Category will be selected as follows:
Judge's Choice
After the end of the contest submission period, a team of judges will review all eligible contest entries and based on the judging criteria described below, will select one grand prize winner and one runner-up. In case of ties, they will be broken by an additional judge based on the judging criteria listed below.
SilverlightShow Community Choice
- We will post all eligible entries in our Community Vote gallery within two (2) business days from entry submission. Between 12:01 am GMT on January 12th and 11:59 pm GMT on February 17th SilverlightShow users will be asked to rate the submissions in the Community Vote Gallery, taking into consideration the Judging Criteria described below. Each user may give a 1 to 5 star rating to each of the entries in the Community Vote gallery. Each entry may be rated just once by each user.
- At the end of the Community voting period, a Community Choice winner will be selected based on the highest average vote score received. In case of a tie between two or more entries, the tie will be broken by judges based on the criteria listed above.
- In case the Community Vote winner is also selected as Grand Prize winner, the higher of the two awards will be given - that is, the Grand Prize. In such a case, the Community Vote winner will become the entry with the next highest average community rating.
For both contest categories, the decisions of the judges are final.
